Essex County Juried Show - FIRST and THIRD PLACE AWARD
On June 6, 2008 the
Garden Bench photograph won First Place in the Digital Imaging category and the
Windmill photograph placed third in the Photography category. The Garden Bench photograph will be the Essex County entry into the NJ State Juried show as a result of its first place award. Bill Glasofer was one of only two artists to have both pieces of artwork receive awards. The competition included 85 pieces of art from 55 Essex County artists.
Livingston Community Center Juried Show - AWARD OF MERIT WINNER
Award of Merit was won by Bill Glasofer for his entry titled Rhode Island
Wind Mill.
This print is a black and white photograph of an historic windmill photographed in Rhode Island. The photograph was printed on Velvet Fine Art Paper after converting the digital color negative into a black and white toned image.
Professor Tim Gaydos, Montclair State University, commented that "he looked for originality, emotion, execution and composition" as the criteria for Award Selection. He contiued by saying that he chose the Rhode Island Wind Mill photograph for "strong composition and tonality".
The exhibit will continue through the month of May 2008.
Java Lou Cafe - York Street Project Benefit
Twenty pieces of Bill Glasofer Art Work was on display and for sale at Java Lou Cafe in Chatham Township, NJ for the month of May. All proceeds resulting from sales were donated to The York Street Project - $750. A different portfolio of Bill Glasofer Art Work will be on display for the month of October 2008.
Gaelen Art Center Exhibit
For the month of May, the Gaelen Art Center in West Orange, had 7 pieces of art work from Bill Glasofer's African 2006 portfolio on exhibit in the lobby gallery.
George Schaub, Editor and Chief of Shutterbug Magazine Comments
In April 2008 George Schaub did a review of Bill Glasofer's Africa portfolio. Mr. Schaub's comments included that the "
Cheetah and Cub Lookin On" piece "is the best portrait I have seen of a Cheetah subject. Mr. Schaub also stated the
The Majestic African Crane photgraph "is a real winner in composition, detail and color".
Bernardsville Library
For the month of October 2007 the Bill Glasofer piece titled
Garden Bench was on display at the Bernardsville Library. This photograph is a vignette of a garden in July at the NY Botanic Garden. The photograph was transformed into a watercolor sketch and presented on Velvet Fine Art paper. This piece received excellent reviews and was purchased during the exhibition.
